More money for students from 2025
Starting next year, financial aid for students in Sweden will see a significant increase. This adjustment reflects annual updates to the price base amount, which is recalculated to align with inflation. The changes introduce important updates for students relying on grants and loans, ensuring better support in meeting their educational expenses.
What’s Changing?
- Increased Grants and Loans:
- Students with maximum financial aid will receive SEK 13,500 for four weeks of full-time study.
- The grant portion increases by SEK 104, while the loan rises by SEK 240.
- The aid package comprises 30% grant and 70% loan.

- Higher Earnings Limit:
- Starting in 2025, students can earn up to SEK 113,901 over six months (20 weeks of study) without affecting their financial aid.
- The maximum allowable monthly income before aid is reduced will be SEK 18,983.
- Study Start Support:
- The grant for unemployed individuals beginning studies will rise to SEK 11,172 for four weeks of full-time study.
- 2025 Price Base Amount:
- The new price base amount is set at SEK 58,800, which is used to calculate various allowances and aids, including student financial support.
Upper Secondary School Tuition:
- Tuition fees for secondary school students remain fixed at SEK 1,250 per month, as determined by the Swedish Parliament (Riksdag).
These updates aim to provide better financial stability for students, ensuring that the aid keeps pace with economic conditions. If you have already been approved for aid in 2025, the new amounts will be automatically applied without any additional steps.
